4-5 cups apple juice

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

a generous measure of spiced rum (optional)

cinnamon sticks to garnish.

Combine all ingredients in a pot (except rum). Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring every now and again and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes. If desired add rum at this point and give the cider one last stir. Cider can be kept warm over very low heat.

Pour into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks. Serve nice and warm.

Interesting. I’ve always used cinnamon sticks and cloves, and generally omit the spiced rum — lol! Nutmeg reminds me of eggnog and Christmas. Not a bad thing, but I like Christmas not to demand my attention till late November. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hi Sue! I love nutmeg in quite a few things in the Autumn, I always add it to apple crumble and plum pies. Mmm.. eggnog.
