Seville Shopping: Populart

Seville Shopping: Populart | Ceramics | Spain | Karoliina Kazi

Seville is well known for its ceramics and azulejos – painted ceramic tiles and has been for centuries. Populart, in the heart of Santa Cruz, has one of the finest collections of quality ceramics, antiques and Andalusian artisanal treasures from around the region. The first thing you notice when you open Populart’s door is the beautiful colour that palette, dusty hues of green and blue with some brighter pops of colour that definitely add to the store’s charm. The knowledgeable store owner, in business since 1977, will happily tell you the stories behind each item. Whilst you might not have room in your weekend bag for an antique bowl, there are plenty of smaller pieces that you’ll be able to take home. Riz, for example, found a beautiful over hundred years old, mother of pearl crucifix. Another great place for antique hunting is the Jueves Market.

Wow, these pieces remind me so much of the blue&white pottery my mom used to collect. I love the piece that says COCINA. I would want to bring that one home with me. 🙂

Oh that would be so fun! When I vacation, I definitely like to shop. I would find it totally hard not to try to fit one of those bowls in my carry-on!

I know, it was hard! They were really solid, heavy pieces as well so that stopped us…
