No Autumn would be complete without this warm, spiced classic. Pull on your woolly jumper, pop some music on and start the stove. This easy to follow spiced hot apple cider recipe is going to fill your house with wonderful aromas and hit all the right spots.
4-5 cups apple juice
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
a generous measure of spiced rum (optional)
cinnamon sticks to garnish.
Combine all ingredients in a pot (except rum). Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring every now and again and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes. If desired add rum at this point and give the cider one last stir. Cider can be kept warm over very low heat.
Pour into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks. Serve nice and warm.
