After finding a spot for your car on the cliff top parking area, take a walk along the dirt track along the cliffs. You’ll find stunning postcard views of a shoreline of clear, inviting waters dotted with rock stacks, series of coves and caves for which the Algarve is best known.
Praia da Marinha beach has been nominated one of the 10 best beaches in Europe by the Michelin Guide and its no wonder why; sprawling stretch of vanilla-white sand backed by vivid red cliffs and bulging multicoloured rock formations is simply, mesmerising.
Take the well-trodden, winding stone steps down to the beach, enjoy the golden beach, dive into the sparkling clear water, snorkel and sunbathe to your heart’s content. The beach has a little bar, but it’s a good idea to bring some water and fruit with you.
Praia da Marinha beach is no secret and tends to be rather popular during the summer months. If you are brave enough, look for a little cave on the left side of the beach (near the entrance stairs). Climb in and follow the sandy tunnel…
You will find a quiet, hidden cove that offers a shady escape from the heat of the day. Which is just what we did.
Just the ticket for curious minds and wanderers.
