’tis the season for Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Peppermint Hot Chocolate Recipe | Karoliina Kazi

Peppermint Hot Chocolate is one of our favourite treats during the holidays and perhaps one of the best things about winter.

Made with real semi-sweet chocolate chips and a dash of peppermint, this makes the perfect treat for the holiday season. They’re as easy as they are delicious.

You'll need | Recipes | Karoliina Kazi Blog

4 cups of milk

Dash of cream if you want the hot chocolate thicker and creamier

1 to 1 1/2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of peppermint extract (or to taste)

Whipped cream

Crushed candy cane

Method | Recipes | Karoliina Kazi Blog

Heat milk (and cream) over medium heat until hot, but not boiling. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips (you can use pretty much any chocolate for this) and whisk together. Stir occasionally while heating. Add vanilla and peppermint extract. Whisk until chocolate chips are completely melted.

Once hot, pour mixture into cups and serve with whipped cream and crushed candy cane sprinkled on top. You can also pop in a peppermint candy cane to add flavour and use for mixing your hot chocolate.

And of course, you always turn your hot cocoa into a little naughty cocktail (I promise, Santa won’t mind!) by adding some minty liqueur, or Baileys.

This look so delicious, I swear there’s nothing better than hot chocolate in Winter, when it’s snowing and you don’t have to go anywhere! I especially like the sound of peppermint in this recipe since I adored those peppermint candies with chocolate filling as a child.

I personally don’t like the association of peppermint and chocolate but your drink and pictures look good and pretty (with the little golden dots and marble table)!
