Cotswolds Weekend

I really adore this part of England – there is something so delightful packing your little rental car and setting out of the city. Breathing in the fresh air, stopping over at the pretty gingerbread villages and dipping in and out out the little shops, finding presents for family back home.

We stayed in a charming hotel in the Farncombe Estate, just outside of the village of Broadway in the Cotswolds. And as we were blessed with crisp winter air and sunny skies we explored the local villages in our wooly socks and wellies and Annie in her jumper, made by my mother.

Majoituimme ihastuttavaan hotelliin maaseudulla, aivan Broadwayn kylän kupeeseen Cotswoldissa. Ja koska meitä onneksemme siunattiin aurinkoisella ja kirpakalla talvisäällä tutkimme läheisiä kyliä ja vaellusreittejä suurimmaksi osaksi kävellen, tosin villasukilla ja kumisaappailla varustettuna. Ja Annie pysyi lämpimänä minun äidin kutomassa neulenutussa.

We wanted somewhere beautiful to stay with good walking tracks, and still close enough for exploring the Cotswolds. Cosy and laid-back with a dash of luxury, The Fish Hotel has a village feel with picturesque views of countryside hills rolling out all around you.

We lived in one of the Cosy Luxe Rooms at the stables. These rooms are dog-friendly and really spacious. The room style was somewhat Scandinavian with wooden furniture, luxurious textiles, soothing neutral colours and lots of natural light so I felt right at home.

Our favourite part of the room? The lovely, wide and cushioned window seats with amazing views of the estate.

We were also really impressed with all the details The Fish had arranged for Annie’s comfort. There was a big comfy cushion, doggy bowls, a big towel and even some treats.

The bed was huge for the three of us and the pillow and mattress felt like we were sleeping in the clouds. It was lovely to wake up to the early morning light bursting through the blinds, well rested and ready for a day of long walks and Cotswolds exploring.

We had a hot bath with some refreshing Bramley toiletries and wrapped ourselves in the soft hotel bathrobes. I could definitely get used to this, the less busy life in the Cotswolds.

Slowly sipping our coffee in the room and pulling on our wooly socks and jumpers we then headed for breakfast.

The Fish Hotel is perfect for this time of the year, all three of us absolutely loved our time there and truly relaxed our novelty socks off, like the hotel promises. I would love to hear from you if you’ve also stayed here or at any of the other hotels in the area!

The Fish on täydellinen kohde tähän aikaan vuodesta, kaikki me kolme todella nautimme olostamme ja rentouduimme.

After breakfast we changed into some warmer clothes, grabbed our coats and wellies and were out the door. More on that coming soon…

This looks so beautiful, cozy, and picturesque. There is nothing better than being able to enjoy a quick little getaway with someone you love (and your little pup), especially when the weather gets colder and you just need some people (or animals) to cuddle up to! 🙂

I’ve never been to The Cotswalds before but it looks idyllic, it looks a bit like the Lake District. Have you been to the Lake District? I love it there it is so pretty, wet though as it seemed to rain quite a bit when we were there :D. How cute is your dog in the jumper your mum made for her? Xx

Hi Denise – thank you for your lovely message. We’ve been to the Lake District once a few years ago, but just for a day. It was gorgeous there and we really want to come back for a proper break. It’s quite far from here so will want to spend at least a couple of days. My mum loves knitting and has made so many cute jumpers for Annie. xx K

Never say never 🙂 I don’t know how to knit at all because I always chose woodwork at school over sewing classes.

Haha, I was in sewing glasses but I skipped knitting most of the times 😀 I’m pretty good with sewing machine tho 😀

Me too, I immediately thought of those wide window sills in Helsinki.
