I really adore this part of England – there is something so delightful packing your little rental car and setting out of the city. Breathing in the fresh air, stopping over at the pretty gingerbread villages and dipping in and out the little shops, finding presents for family back home.
We stayed in a charming hotel in the Farncombe Estate, just outside of the village of Broadway in the Cotswolds. And as we were blessed with crisp winter air and sunny skies we explored the local villages in our woolly socks and wellies and Annie in her jumper, made by my mother.
We wanted somewhere beautiful to stay with good walking tracks, and still close enough to explore the Cotswolds. Cosy and laid-back with a dash of luxury, The Fish Hotel has a village feel with picturesque views of countryside hills rolling out all around you.

We lived in one of the Cosy Luxe Rooms at the stables. These rooms are dog-friendly and really spacious. The room style was somewhat Scandinavian with wooden furniture, luxurious textiles, soothing neutral colours and lots of natural light so I felt right at home.
Our favourite part of the room? The lovely, wide and cushioned window seats with amazing views of the estate.
We were also really impressed with all the details The Fish had arranged for Annie’s comfort. There was a big comfy cushion, doggy bowls, a big towel and even some treats.
The bed was huge for the three of us and the pillow and mattress felt like we were sleeping in the clouds. It was lovely to wake up to the early morning light bursting through the blinds, well rested and ready for a day of long walks and Cotswolds exploring.
We had a hot bath with some refreshing Bramley toiletries and wrapped ourselves in the soft hotel bathrobes. I could definitely get used to this, the less busy life in the Cotswolds.
Slowly sipping our coffee in the room and pulling on our woolly socks and jumpers we then headed for breakfast.
The Fish Hotel is perfect for this time of the year, all three of us absolutely loved our time there and truly relaxed our novelty socks off, like the hotel promises. I would love to hear from you if you’ve also stayed here or at any of the other hotels in the area!
After breakfast, we changed into some warmer clothes, grabbed our coats and wellies and were out the door. More on that coming soon…
