The road is filled with bucketfuls of beautiful blooms in every colour imaginable.

Katu täyttyy sankollisista kukkaloistoa kaikissa väreissä jota kuvitella saattaa.

There are bulbs, herbs, shrubs, bedding plants and cut flowers for your vase at home.

On sipuleita, yrttejä, pensaita, taimia ja leikkokukkia kotona odottavaan maljakkoosi.

Stallholders shout out their deals to draw you in. Some of whom are the third generation in their family to trade. Jokes and flowering facts are flying around.

Torimyyjät huutavat tarjouksiaan houkutellakseen sinut ostoksille. Jotkut heistä myyjiä samalla paikalla jo kolmannessa sukupolvessa. Vitsit ja kukkien hoito-ohjeet lentelevät ilmassa.

And so are big, genuine smiles.

Ja niin tekevät myös suuret, aidot hymyt. Kukat tekevät ihmiset onnellisiksi, se on selvää.

There are lovely shops, independent galleries, foodie stalls, groups of friends, street performers…

On ihania putiikkeja, gallerioita, katukeittiöitä, kaveriporukoita, katutaiteilijoita…

And puppies burning with curiosity.

Ja uteliaita koiraystäviä.

You’ll find the market on Columbia Road every Sunday. Turn up as things start to wind down at around 2 pm for the best bargains, or as early as possible (9 am) if you want to guarantee yourself the pick of the crop and fewer crowds.
